What Comes After "Thank You"

The Need for Ongoing Community Support

Beyond Gratitude

Whenever service members come home from a tour, they inevitably get many members of their communities offering their gratitude. Thanking someone for their service is a nice thought and a great gesture, but we must ask ourselves: What comes after “thank you?”

This question is the driving force behind American Heroes support Centers. We believe that there is so much more that can be done for service men and women when they get home. Beyond being grateful, we understand that it is key for each community to offer services and support. In that vein, it is our goal to create support centers for service members and their families. Ideally, these would be places to not only access important resources that may help with adjusting to civilian life, but also a place for recreation and relaxation.

Furthermore, we realized that veterans and active service members aren’t the only ones who could benefit from our support centers. First responders are often overlooked and undervalued segment of the population; their duties are vital to the communities they serve and they rarely get fitting appreciation. First responders perform dangerous work and deserve a space where they and their families can come together with like-minded individuals.
